Bar Oorlam is the international craft beer destination in the heart of Hamburg.
We serve a constantly changing selection of experimental beers from befriended breweries, craft spirit pairings – including our own Filosoof Jenever – as well as natural wines, dutch barfood and, of course, some great cheeses.

Bar Oorlam was founded in 2018 by Nienke Oostra to showcase a wide range of highly creative products.
Beers that stretch from traditional Franconian beers to experimental, personally imported experimental craft. A lot of wild fermented stuff too. Easy drinkers and things you have to chew on. Besides that, the bar is showcasing Nienke’s own distillates. In 2015 she founded the brand Filosoof Jenever in Amsterdam, giving a modern interpretation of the origin of gin: jenever. The jenevers contain special botanicals like jasmine tea (Amber), hibiscus (Tamar), roses (Wieke), hawthorn (Rodante), and lots of hops (Koshka among others). In 2018 Odds and Evens was added to that, a small whisky brand run together with the whisky jack: Gearoid O’Callaghan. On top of that, there are some special creations just being served in the bar, like a dandelion bitter and an orange liqueur. But the love for special craft goes on. We also serve a changing selection of some great natural wines, both by the glass and by the bottle. And of course self-imported cheeses from the Netherlands, and last but not least the iconic vegan bitterbal by Groh.
Our homey bar has 15 taps and around 50 bottles of beer on offer.

We serve the whole range of Filosoof Jenever including the proof series; a series of experimental ‘one of’-jenevers straight from the test ‘kitchen’.
We have a small terrace in the evening sun and serve some self-imported cheeses from the Netherlands and Salami’s from France. And don’t forget to bring home a box of beer and a bottle of jenever afterwards.

Filosoof Jenever was founded in 2015 in Amsterdam by Nienke Oostra.
After years of researching jenever by not only reading a lot but also visiting most old distilleries she founded her own Jenever distillery. Jenever (in German Genever) is the traditional spirit of the Netherlands. Although once it was the most common spirit in the world, nowadays most people never had a good one, if any at all. The jenevers from Filosoof are experimental, they often use uncommon botanicals and have a very strong malt base. This makes them somewhere between a whisky and a gin, both more modern styles that are actually offspring’s from the traditional Jenever. Filosoof jenever recipes are made very careful, from fermenting with different strains of yeast to picking fresh botanicals
